What is a smartOne
Prepaid Gift Card?
The smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is a pre-paid Card purchased
just for you! The smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is not a credit card. It carries a fixed cash
amount that you can use to make purchases at any locations
that accept Visa or MasterCard debit cards (depending upon the logo on the front of your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card). You can use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to shop from catalogs, restaurants, retail stores, or even place orders on the web. For information on how to use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card in these situations, please see the answer discussed below.

How does the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card work?
You can use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card just like a regular debit card. Push "credit"
at the point-of-sale terminal and sign the receipt. Because the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card
may not come with a PIN, pushing "debit" may cause the card to decline.
Every time you use the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card; the purchase amount is deducted from the
available balance until that balance reaches zero. Before you go shopping,
you'll need to know how much money you have available. Knowing your balance
before you shop will assure that your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is accepted. Once the entire
gift amount has been spent, the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card can no longer be used as a method
of payment. The smartOne Prepaid Gift Card can be kept as a keepsake of the original gift or
be destroyed and discarded.

Can I make a purchase for more than the amount
remaining on the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card?
If you wish to use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to purchase an item for more than the available balance on the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card, subject to the merchant’s policy, you may be able to use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card toward a portion of the purchase price and then use another form of payment to pay the balance of the purchase price. This is called a "split tender" transaction because you would be "splitting" the purchase price between your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card and another form of payment. Before you request a "split tender" transaction, please call Customer Service at 866-770-2170 to confirm the available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card. Then, you MUST ask the merchant if two forms of payment will be accepted for the purchase you wish to make. If the merchant agrees, first request that the merchant debit or charge a specific dollar amount on the other form of payment (i.e., the purchase price less the available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card), and then use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to pay the remaining balance. Some retailers, particularly department stores, will only allow a "split tender" transaction if the second form of payment is cash or check. Internet and most mail order merchants do not permit "split tender" transactions. We do not guarantee that the merchant will accept two forms of payment, such as two gift cards.

What if the purchase is denied?
The available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is probably less than the purchase
amount. Before you go shopping, you should first verify the balance on
the card by visiting our web site at www.smartOneGiftCard.com
or by calling Customer Service using the phone number found on the back
of your card. The merchant may not be able to check your available balance. If your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card was declined and there are sufficient funds to cover the
purchase, contact Customer Service using the phone number found on the
back of your card to determine why the card was declined.

Can I use my smartOne Prepaid Gift Card
at gasoline merchants?
If you use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to purchase gasoline, we recommend that you pay inside the station, not at the pump. If you were to pay at the pump, the electronic terminal at the pump may be programmed to confirm that you have sufficient available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to pay for an average purchase of gas. Before you are permitted to pump gas, many pumps seek an authorization for $75 and this amount could increase from time to time ("Preauthorization Request"). If you have an insufficient available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to cover the Preauthorization Request, your attempt to use your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card at the pump may be declined. If you have a sufficient available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to cover the Preauthorization Request, you will be permitted to continue your transaction at the pump. However, if the dollar amount of your actual gasoline purchase is less than the amount of the Preauthorization Request that we approved, a "hold" on your available balance may automatically result equal to the difference between the two amounts. Once the merchant sends us the final amount of your actual gasoline purchase, we will remove the "hold" on your available balance for any additional amount exceeding this final amount. This may take 3 to 7 days and during this period you will not be able to use any balance subject to this "hold." TO AVOID A DECLINE OF, OR A HOLD ON, YOUR AVAILABLE BALANCE ON YOUR CARD, WE RECOMMEND THAT YOU PREPAY FOR YOUR GASOLINE INSIDE THE STATION.

Can I use my smartOne Prepaid Gift Card
at restaurants, hotels and similar merchants?
When using your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card at a merchant where a tip may be included (such as at a restaurant) or at a merchant in the travel business (for example, a hotel, car rental agency, or cruise line), your transaction may be pre-authorized for an additional amount above the initial transaction amount. This pre-authorization process is referred to as an "authorization request." Because the authorization request may have been processed for an amount higher than the initial transaction amount, if you have an insufficient available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to cover the authorization request, your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card may be declined. If you have a sufficient available balance on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to cover the authorization request, it may result in a "hold" on your available balance for the amount of the authorization request. The final amount charged to your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card will not exceed the final transaction amount. Once the merchant sends us the final transaction amount, we will remove the "hold" on your available balance for any additional amount exceeding the final transaction amount. This may take 3 to 7 days and during this period you will not be able to use any balance subject to "hold."
Can I use my smartOne Prepaid Gift Card to make internet and mail order purchases?
Internet, mail, and phone order purchases may require that we have the correct name and home address of the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card owner on file. If you wish to make Internet or mail order purchases, you will need to register your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card by entering your name and home address prior to performing an Internet, mail, or phone order transaction.
Can the smartOne Prepaid Gift Card ever have a negative balance?
Any authorization request that is greater than your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card's available balance
will be declined. However, there can be times when a merchant allows
a purchase without prior authorization. To avoid any charge, you should
always know the value on your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card before making the purchase. If you exceed
your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card's limit, you will be billed for the excess amount.
What happens if I need to return an item?
Each merchant location has its own return policies and will handle
the returns in the same manner as any other credit card or debit card transaction. They may
credit your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card, provide a cash refund or
issue a store credit.
What if there are still funds available when
my Gift Card expires?
We encourage you to use the entire gift amount before the card expires.
Any balance remaining will be returned to you less a closure fee
(please refer to the back of your card or the Cardholder Agreement provided with your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card).
Funds will be distributed in accordance with your Cardholder Agreement.
Can I add more money to my smartOne Prepaid Gift Card?
Once the entire amount is spent, your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card can no longer be used as
a method of payment. However, it's easy to order a new smartOne Prepaid Gift Card online at
www.smartOneGiftCard.com.
Is it safe to order or use a smartOne Prepaid Gift Card?
Our web page, www.smartOneGiftCard.com,
utilizes internal security standards to ensure your order information remains secure.
The smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is as safe to use as a debit card. If a smartOne Prepaid Gift Card is lost or stolen, a replacement smartOne Prepaid Gift Card will be sent
to you and the balance remaining at the time of the report will be transferred
to the new card, less a reissue fee (please refer to your Cardholder Agreement provided with your smartOne Prepaid Gift Card).
